Pest-resistant, peat-free compost, designed specifically for indoor plants

Why a Ghost Edition?
Our first run of House Mix bags came back a shade paler than planned, a bit washed-out, a bit ghostly. The compost inside is exactly as it should be, it’s only the bag that turned up looking like it had seen a ghost. Rather than waste a perfectly good batch, we’ve named it the Ghost Edition and set it loose as a one-off limited run. Once these have vanished, that’s it.

Why most houseplant composts fail
Most indoor composts hold too much water, collapse over time and come over-fertilised. The result is root stress, poor drainage and the pest problems every houseplant owner dreads, fungus gnats chief among them. House Mix is engineered to fix all three.

Engineered for indoor plants

  • Reliable moisture control. Free-draining and moisture-buffered, so it’s far harder to overwater, and your plants keep going for longer after you bring them home.
  • Stable structure that lasts. A blend of UK forest bark, wood fibre and UK-grown Miscanthus keeps air pores open and stops the compost slumping and compacting over time.
  • Balanced nutrition for healthy roots. Low salinity and a balanced pH take the stress off roots indoors, while a seaweed biostimulant encourages fine root growth, all without overfeeding.
  • Natural pest resistance. Plant-based biofumigation, using UK-farmed mustard seed extract, helps repel insect larvae and reduce fungus gnat problems while your plant settles in.

Peat-free, lower carbon, better performance
Smarter ingredient choices replace vermiculite and LECA with renewable fibres and sustainably sourced clay. You get the same job done with lower embedded carbon and better long-term stability. It’s a modern alternative to traditional houseplant composts, built to cut out the common problems and help plants thrive.

Made the MAD way
100% organic and OF&G certified. Contains black soldier fly frass and chitin. Supports British farmers, with UK-grown ingredients. Pet, child, pollinator and hedgehog friendly. 10 litre bag.

How to use it
Use House Mix when potting on or repotting your indoor plants. Fill around the root ball, firm gently and leave a small gap at the top for watering, then water in well. Feed to suit each plant as it grows.ouse Mix is engineered to hold its structure, so you get the environmental benefit without the usual trade-off.

Yes. The mix carries most houseplants for around four to six weeks, after which you feed to suit each plant.

It makes the compost far less hospitable to them by deterring them naturally, rather than acting as a pesticide.

It suits most. Specialist plants such as orchids, cacti and succulents tend to want their own dedicated mixes.
